Clair Donnelly touched the lives of thousands of Maize residents as mayor for 14 years, and many called him friend. After his passing, the Clair Donnelly Amphitheater was created, enabling a space for Maize residents to gather for holidays, celebrations, and more. As a second phase of this project, Ten Works worked to create shade structures with built-in lighting, power plug ins, and table tops for both pedestrians to amble and gather, as well as for food trucks to park under the sweltering heat of Kansas summer days & nights.

Capturing the concentric circles which are part of the existing concrete pattern below, Ten Works made stainless awnings with a reciprocating feel - much like the cool drops of water in a pond during a rain storm. The diffuse light through patterns and the overall size of these shade structures allow for sweet relief during the summer months!
